How to use this website

We have tried to make this website easy to use so you can obtain instant cover.

If you encounter any problems, please read below before phoning the Butterworth Insurance Services Helpline on 0151 427 9529 or emailing info@butterworthinsurance.co.uk

1. Quotations

Choose the menu item Getting a Quotation and enter your details. First you need to enter the replacement value of the cycle you want to insure. Then enter your Postcode into the second box. Immediately you do this the premium you will be required to pay will be displayed.

If you are intending to insure more than one cycle, simply add the replacement values of all the cycles together and enter them into the box as one total amount. You may insure up to five cycles without referral to Butterworth Insurance Services. The premium quoted will apply for all your insured cycles.

2. Extensions of Cover

The premium you will pay depends on whether you purchase standard leisure cycling cover, or whether you extend the policy to include:
  • Competition, 'massed start' racing, including triathlon events
  • Personal accident cover
  • Public liability cover
  • Bike hire on holiday following a loss (this option is free).
When applying online you will see that the premium quotation changes each time you choose, or exclude, the above options. If you exclude all options you will get the cheapest quote and basic cover.

Leisure use of cycles is automatically provided. You may extend cover to include competition use which is defined as use for road or circuit racing which involves a 'massed start'. If you wish to cover competition use you will pay a higher premium due to the increased risk of accidental damage.

3. Territorial Limits

Your policy covers you for use throughout the whole of the UK. We may if requested extend cover for use abroad and we may charge an additional premium for this depending on where you are travelling or staying, and for how long. LCC Urban Cycling Insurance is only available to people who are permanently domiciled in the UK.

4. Family Members Cover

LCC Urban Cycling Insurance cover applies only to the person named in the Schedule of Insurance. You may extend cover to allow other members of your family who are permanently residing with you at the address shown on the Schedule of Insurance.

5. Paying Your Premium

The application process is completed by payment of the premium. As soon as the payment is received by us the Contract of Insurance is - subject to underwriters' approval - legally bound and you are on cover. You may pay the premium to us online (via WorldPay), by phoning us with your credit/debit card details, or by mailing us a cheque payable to Butterworth Insurance Services.
